Srinagar: The Freedom Party Secretary General Moulana Muhammad Abdullah Tari Sunday asserted that world leadership must “seriously take the speech delivered by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in UN” which “represents the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris”. He also welcomed the statement of Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Shareef that ‘Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition’.

According to statement issued to KNS, Moulana Tari made these remarks while inaugurating the party’s Pulwama office on Sunday. Those present on the occasion include Bashir Ahmad Aazim, Muhammad Amin (District President), Er Farooq Ahmad Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Ghazi, Molvi Bashir Ahmad and other associates.

Addressing the party representatives, members and activists there, Tari said the stand of Pakistan vis-à-vis Kashmir is “positive and based on reality”. He said the points raised by Pak PM in UNGA represent the sentiments of Kashmiris and that time has come for world leadership to, without any delay, take initiatives to resolve the long-pending dispute of Kashmir.

“We welcome Mr Nawaz Sharif’s remarks that Kashmiris are the prime stakeholders of the dispute. His (Sharif’s) demand of demilitarization of Siachen and J&K and call for UNMOGIP's expansion to monitor the observance of the ceasefire is apt,” he said.

Tari while welcoming the statement of General Raheel Sharif in London about Kashmir being the unfinished agenda of partition said: “Till the people of Jammu Kashmir are not given the right of choosing their political future and UN resolutions not implemented in the state, the threat of war will continue to loom the subcontinent and the whole region will continue to be victim of anarchy and uncertainty.”

Moulana stressed upon party workers to strengthen the public relations at grassroots level and assure people to remain optimistic regarding the freedom movement. “We have to assure our people that Kashmir issue is inviting global attention and is emerging as a concern for world community.”

He while hailing the role of Pulwama towards the freedom movement said the region has a record contribution in this regard. He urged them to differentiate between truth and falsehood and remaining vigilant of forces inimical to peace and movement and those concerned of their chairs. “Our mission is not of any material gain but that for which our martyrs laid down their lives for the last 68 years.”

Tari also castigated the New Delhi and state administration for keeping the Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah under continuous house arrest saying there is no justification for them in doing so. He severely condemned the continuous house arrest of All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani and reminded the so-called government of making hue and cry and chest thumbing over the same curbs on resistance leadership when it was in opposition.

Meanwhile, the Freedom Party spokesperson expressed strong resentment over the harassment of political prisoners in Baramulla sub-jail by authorities and said if any untoward happens with them (prisoners), the jail authorities will be responsible.

The spokesperson also severely condemned the murderous assault on a Muslim police officer in Rajouri over carrying of a bovine animal. He warned the communal forces of dire consequences if they continue with such attacks on Muslims. (KNS)
