Arvind Kejriwal skips second ED summons in Delhi liquor policy case

Date:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday skipped the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons for the second time after he was asked to appear before the probe agency in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam.

In a letter to the ED, Kejriwal alleged, “Timing of summons says that the objective is sensational news making ahead of Parliamentary Elections in the country.”

“I still do not know in which capacity am I being summoned a witness or suspect, or as Chief Minister, Delhi or as Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener,” the letter read.

He left for a Vipassana meditation course. “I have received a summons on the eve of my pre-announced and widely published departure to Vipassana Meditation,” the letter stated.

Kejriwal was first summoned by the ED on November 2, but he did not appear before the probe agency.

Reacting to the ED summons, Delhi Minister Atishi alleged neither of the investigating agencies has been able to present even a single evidence of money in two years.

“Even after holding hundreds of press conferences, BJP has not been able to present even a single proof. The only main reason for these cases is that BJP is afraid of the popularity of Arvind Kejriwal,” she alleged.

At a press conference held here on Thursday, Atishi criticised ED’s summons and remarked it was not from the central agency, but from the BJP, reflecting “illegal” and “political motivations”.
