Youth Shot Dead In Batamaloo, Protests Erupt

Srinagar: A youth has been shot dead allegedly by the security forces in Batmaloo area of Srinagar this evening. A youth has been identified as Sajad Waza resident of Chandoosa, Baramulla. 

According to eyewitness the clashes were going on in the area between people and forces. The eye witnesses said that the youth was shot dead after forces fired on the protesters.

 The police, however, said that investigation is going on to ascertain the circumstances in which the youth was killed.

“There was no deployment in the area. The matter is being investigated,” the police spokesman said in its official release to media.

 Meanwhile, the tensions are brewing up in the area as people are staging the protests against the killing. Security forces have been rushed to contain the situation.

Pertinently, the Kashmir is tense since April 13  after eight people were killed in forces firing during the protests on polling day in Budgam district of central Kashmir.
