JK-police-to-take-over-1Srinagar: Amid growing tensions in restive Kashmir, the police on Sunday issued an advisory to its force and urged them not to visit their homes.

According to missive, the copy of which lies with The Legitimate reads that all the police personals must refrain from visiting their homes for next few months  especially in South Kashmir.

The missive states that the decision has been taken in view of recent attacks by militants on the families and properties of cops in South Kashmir.

“There have been few incidents in valley where terrorists, anti social elements and anti nationals have tried to cause the damage to the life and property of police personals. In view of these unfortunate incidents, police personals especially from south Kashmir are advised to exercise extreme caution while visiting their homes,” it reads.

It, however, suggests that they should avoid visiting their homes for next few months as their security is of paramount importance.

Treating the matter of growing threat to local police force as most urgent, the district police officers are directed to issue the orders immediately and ensure the security of their men on priority basis.

With an increasing role of local police in counter insurgency operations and maintaining law and order, the police personals and their families are facing immense threat from the militants.

At various places in south Kashmir angry mobs and gunmen threatened the families of cops in recent past.
