Traders body Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) Monday staged a peaceful march against the assault on Article 35A that bars non-state citizens to procure land and jobs in Jammu and Kashmir. Police however, didn’t allow protesting traders to move towards United Nations Military observer group office Sonwar.

Carrying banners and chanting slogans, traders assembled at Lalchowk to register their protest against attempts to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar. As soon as the protesters tried to march towards UNMOGIP Sonwar, police detained them.

The protesting traders appeal the honorable Supreme Court to dismiss the petition so that the wild fears in the minds of already victimized people of Jammu and Kashmir come to an end once for all.

Protest over abrogation of special status have been held across the length and breadth of Kashmir as well as in Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley.

Apart from the local trade and transport bodies mainstream parties like the National Conference and PDP also hold rallies in support of continuing Article 35-A. (CNS)
