Who Allowed Influential Hotelier To Use JCB At Ski Resort Gulmarg?

Date:

Gulmarg: Taking undue advantage of alleged court permission, a leading Hotelier of Kashmir Valley on the pretext of renovation oftourist hut has disfigured the beauty of world famous ski resort Gulmarg.

Sources said that the said hotelier who runs a chain of hotels under the banner of ‘Grand Mumtaz Resorts’ across Jammu and Kashmir had sought permission from the court to renovate one of the tourist huts owned by him.
Ironically, on the pretext of renovation, the Hotelier in question used JCB without seeking permission from authorities to dig up a large chunk of green pasture.

Sources said that some officials who took the matter seriously seized the JCB instantly.

Pertinently, Court has been continuously coming down heavily on authorities for disfiguring the beauty of famed tourist resorts in Kashmir. “Sonmarg has already turned into a concrete jungle, now the people with vested interests are trying to tarnish the prettiness of Gulmarg,” said a local demanding action against the Hotelier.

Another local said that the matter should be probed and those elements should be exposed who allowed this influential Hotelier to use JCB in Gulmarg where such activities are banned.

Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg Development Authority, Hanif Balkhi told news agency CNS that as soon as the issue came into their notice they seized the JCB and asked the hotel owner to stop digging up the pasture.

“The Hotelier had sought court permission for renovation of hut. We didn’t allow him to disfigure the beauty of Gulmarg,” he said. (CNS)
