Srinagar: Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday said that Kashmir has become a dreadful battleground where death and destruction is observed as a routine matter.
“Time and again we have raised our voice for justice to the people of Kashmir, but the Indian Military might and its stubbornness is a major stumbling block in the way of a peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute, which has turned Kashmir into shambles,” Geelani said in a statement issued to GNS.
He said demanding the right to self-determination is not a sin especially when the people bear a glorious history of gentle nature and a peace-loving mentality.
The APHC (G) chairman urged the world community to differentiate between a demand for the right to self-determination and terrorism “which we condemn in its all forms, whether committed by states or non-state elements”.
He said the ongoing movement is in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and other legitimate political and democratic norms.
Demanding early resolution of the Kashmir dispute, Geelani urged for the proactive role of United Nations Organization and its Security Council “to help the subjugated people of Jammu and Kashmir”. (GNS)
