Date:

Srinagar: JK Cements employees Saturday staged a massive demonstration demanding immediate removal of what they claim ‘corrupt’ Managing Director who according to them has brought this industry on the verge of collapse through ‘malpractices’.

The protest was organized by JK Cements Employees Union while leaders of other Unions including Public Sector Employees and Workers Federation Vice President Wajahat Durani, Chief Advisor Joint Action Committee Farooq Ahmed Khan and Employees Joint Acton Committee senior vice president Fayaz Ahmed Shabnam and Vice President EJAC Bashir Ahmed Bhat.

Carrying placards and banners the protesting employees chanted slogans against the incumbent MD of JK Cements and demanded his immediate removal.

They said the incumbent MD in hand in glove with ‘corrupt’ officers who have looted JK Cements extensively.

“The employees are without salaries from past three months while from past four years, one is unable to trace the records of CP fund and Welfare fund. There is an embezzlement of over Rs 20 Crore.

They deduct payment from our salaries but we don’t know where that money has  gone as there are no records available,” the protesting employees told news agency CNS.

They said that Managing Director JK Cements have also resorted to illegal back-door appointments. “This MD in connivance with some of his blue eyed employees has brought JK Cements on the verge of collapse and if he is not removed and allowed to resort to malpractices with impunity, then shortly, this government undertaking will cease to exist,” they said and sought intervention of Governor, his advisor BB Vyas and the Principal Secretary.

They demanded that an inquiry committee should be constituted to look into financial indiscipline and irregularities in JK Cements. (CNS)
