Geelani Pays Tributes To Slain Bijbehara Militants

Date:

Srinagar: Paying tributes to six militants killed in a gunfight with forces at Bijbihara, Anantnag, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday said that “barbarism and brutality” of New Delhi has crossed all the limits, pushing the youth to the extreme and then legalizing their killings.

“For the last 71 years, we have seen only the brutal face of India, lived a life of uncertainty, chaos and harassment, shouldered the coffins of our dear ones, and suffered only death and destruction all around.

This gloomy situation has forced our highly qualified and professionals to fight back and pay the oppressor in the same coin. They prefer to be a rebellion than to live a life of slavery,” Geelani said in a statement issued to GNS.

He added, “The pro-freedom people will always miss the sharp, focused and fertile brains as these shining diamonds and their unparalleled commitment is a great treasure of any nation particularly oppressed and suppressed like us. We are unfortunate that we lose them so early as their un-dented dedication and visionary intellect would help to streamline our movement.”

Our generation next is fully conscious of the hazards and ill effects of slavery and they are on the forefront of the struggle to liberate their land, he said.

Hurriyat (G) chairman said that commitment and unparalleled sacrifices of our youth put a huge obligation and responsibility on not only leaders but common people as well, not to even think of any compromise or betrayal.

Geelani said that election “drama” and its “multi-faced actors” pretend to be our saviours to fetch them votes in the name of basic necessities, but in reality they are the people who strengthen the “unholy bond of slavery”. So we should desist from any support to them, he said.

He appealed youth to strictly follow the glorious path of Quran and Sunnah, have unity and discipline, not fall prey to sectarian conflicts and honestly and sincerely contribute to the ongoing movement in whatever way they can.

Meanwhile, as per the program announced by JRL, peaceful protests after congregational Friday prayers were held against the killing spree across the length and breadth of valley particularly “cold-blooded murder” of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mir Hafizullah, the statement said. (GNS)
