Militants Flee After Brief Exchange Of Fire In Khrew

Srinagar: The militants managed to escape after a brief exchange of fire that took place in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday in Shaar village of Pampore area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources told the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that exchange of fire took place in mid night at around 12:00 AM, adding that the exchange of fire continued for a brief period.

They said the forces later conducted search operation in the area till 09:00 am in the morning, but no dead body was found.

The operation was conducted by 50 RR of Army, CRPF and police, officials said, adding that they had launched the operation following the inputs about the presence of militants.

Meanwhile, a top police official told KNO that they had received inputs about the presence of two militants in the area. “The operation was launched but the militants took advantage of darkness and fled from the spot after brief exchange of fire,” he said. (KNO)
