Kupwara: At least a dozen migrant workers from northern Kashmir are stuck in Darjiling West Bengal and are facing acute shortage of essential commodities and money to buy the food item.
Migrant workers from Kashmir told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they are running short of essential commodities and have no money to buy essentials amid the lockdown across India to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.
Abdul Majeed, one of the labourers said that his family members are worried about him, as he claimed to have six little children and wife at home, waiting for his arrival.
The labourers complained that ever since the lockdown was enforced, they haven’t done any earning to even buy essentials including the foodstuff for them. “Over the days, all of us are confined to our rented rooms and unfortunately we are also running out of essential stock,” they said.
Jahangir Ahmad, another migrant labourer who claimed to be a heart patient, told—KNO that he can’t sustain there for a long and needs to reach home early without any delay.
The migrant labourers who are stuck at Sonada village in Darjiling district of West Bengal urged the authorities to evacuate them to the Valley at an earliest—(KNO)
