After heavy rains lashed Jammu and Kashmir state on Friday the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has declared floods in Srinagar as the river Jehlum is flowing more than one foot above the level at which floods are formally declared.

However, water level has now been receding at Sangam following the halt in rainfall since over night. In south Kashmir officials had declared a flood on Friday and asking people residing close to river and tributaries to remain vigilant. In Srinagar the panic had also triggered after water level was continuously swelling in the Jehlum though was yet to cross the danger mark.
