Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated return to the horror-comedy genre has been slightly delayed, with his upcoming film ‘Bhooth Bangla’ now scheduled for release on May 15, 2026.

The film was initially slated to hit theatres in April 2026.

The makers shared the update on social media along with new posters, captioning the announcement, “Bangle se ek khabar aayi hai! The doors open on 15th May 2026. See you in cinemas, BhoothBangla.”

Directed by Priyadarshan, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ marks his reunion with Akshay Kumar after 15 years. The film wrapped shooting in May 2025, a milestone Akshay celebrated by sharing a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram. The clip shows him dancing to a song against a waterfall backdrop, dressed in joggers and a green shirt.

Alongside the video, Akshay wrote: “And that’s a wrap on BhoothBangla! My seventh madcap adventure with the ever-inventive Priyan sir, my second outing with the unstoppable Ekta, and my first but hopefully not the last, magical journey with the ever-surprising Wamiqa. Grateful for the madness, the magic, and the memories.”

The film’s ensemble cast includes Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Principal photography took place across Rajasthan, Jaipur, and Hyderabad.

‘Bhooth Bangla’ is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R. Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms and Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films, with co-producers Faara Sheikh and Vedant Baali.

The story is penned by Akash A. Kaushik, with the screenplay crafted by Rohan Shankar, Abilash Nair, and Priyadarshan, and dialogues by Rohan Shankar.

The film promises a mix of horror, comedy, and the signature madcap fun fans have come to expect from the Akshay-Priyadarshan collaboration.
