As part of the comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the Special Operations Group (SOG), Jammu, in collaboration with the National Security Guard (NSG), conducted a joint counter-terror mock drill here at Raghunath Temple ahead of annual Shri Amarnath Yatar starting from July 3.
The first batch shall be flagged off here from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas.
“The joint mock drill exercise simulated a high-risk terrorist contingency involving rapid response, area domination, intervention tactics, hostage rescue, casualty evacuation, and inter-agency coordination,” said a spokesman.
The primary objective was to validate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), enhance operational synergy, and ensure a swift, coordinated response to any security contingency, he added.
He further expressed that the drill forms the part of a series of joint preparedness exercises that will be conducted at vital installations and other vulnerable locations across Jammu, adding, “The objective is to assess operational readiness, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and reinforce the security framework at locations that require a high level of preparedness against potential threats.”
The exercise witnessed seamless coordination between SOG Jammu, NSG, and other security stakeholders, reflecting a high level of professionalism, interoperability, and operational readiness, he said.
“Such realistic mock drills will continue to be conducted regularly to further enhance preparedness and maintain a robust security posture during the Amarnath Yatra and beyond,” he said and added that the Jammu Police remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims, residents, and visitors.
