Army, J&K Police recover IEDs, ammunition in Poonch

Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in a joint operation on Wednesday recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along with ammunition during operation Ghani in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.


“Based on synergised intelligence inputs from own sources and J&K Police, a joint operation was launched by the troops of Indian Army’s White Knight Corps and Special Operation Group (SOG) in the Gani Forest area of Poonch,” said Indian Army in a post on the handle of White Knight Corps.


Displaying precision in coordination, the detailed search led to recovery of a terrorist cache concealed beneath a natural cave. One big IED weighing 4.5-kg, one small IED weighing 800 grams, two Chinese Grenades, one 9 mm pistol, two 9 mm rounds and 22 rounds of 7.62 ammunition were recovered from the site, they said.


They further said that the IEDs and grenades were destroyed in situ by the Bomb Disposal Team, ensuring the safety of civilians and troops while the hunt continues, said Indian Army.
