Basantgarh Attack: J&K Police arrests one for providing logistic support to terrorists
Jammu, May 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested one person for providing logistic support to terrorists involved in the April 28 Basantgarh attack in which one VDG member was killed in Udhampur district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Joginder Singh said that the Police have thus far gained some credible information about the movement of suspects and had likewise zeroed in on a few unscrupulous elements that had marked proclivities towards the act of crime.
He added that the police have made initial forays into the continuing investigation of the Basantgarh encounter case in which one VDG personnel, Mohammad Sharif, resident of Lower Ponara Basantgarh, was martyred in a face-off with terrorists at Chochru Gala area of Basantgarh.
The police, he added that in consequence, arrested an individual identified as Javed, resident of Loha Nathi, Kathua, who has evidence stacked against him for providing logistic support to the terrorists.
“This is the first arrest made by Police in this case so far and further investigation into the case is going on,” said the officer.
He added that based on inputs received from various quarters, Udhampur Police have been able to make some sketches depicting the probable description of
some of the terrorists to share it in public domain so that specific information regarding the presence of these terrorists can be generated.
Notably, Udhampur Police also announces handsome cash reward to whomsoever provides specific information regarding the presence of terrorists leading to their neutralization.
