The video of the BJP protest against China with the slogan of “ragdo” in Kupwara district yesterday went viral.
The “ragdo” slogan, usually synonymous with anti-India protests, had become popular from the 2008 Amarnath land row agitation in the Valley. And when BJP workers used the same slogan against China, the video of protest went viral on social media.
Besides raising slogans against China in the protest, led by BJP district president Mir Shafi, in Kupwara, party workers were heard saying “China ragdo” while burning the effigy of Chinese President Xi Jinping. They also broke a China-made television set.
The video of the protest by a handful of BJP workers has gone viral on social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp.
The BJP Kashmir unit had earlier staged an anti-China protest here on Friday and urged the people to boycott Chinese products.
“Let them (China) know that India is no longer the country which it used to be in 1965. From 1965, India has continuously strived and evolved as one of the powerful countries of the world. Our Army is capable enough to give a befitting reply to anyone trying to challenge its sovereignty,” said BJP media in-charge Manzoor Bhat. (TNS)
