Bodies of 2 missing UP children recovered from Doodh Ganga river in Srinagar

The bodies of two minor children from Uttar Pradesh, who were missing since Saturday, were retrieved from the Doodh Ganga river in Srinagar, Police said on Monday.

They said the duo who were selling toys and pens in the area went missing on October 12 and a missing report was registered in the Sadar Police station here.

Police along with the parents had launched a manhunt to trace the children.

They later found the bodies of the children in Doodh Ganga river late on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as 7-year-old Sharika and 6-year-old Mangla, residents of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

The bodies were taken to the Police Hospital for examination and necessary medico-legal formalities before handing them over to their parents for the last rites, police said.

Meanwhile, police began an investigation into the matter to ascertain the cause of their death.
