Srinagar: Body of a man missing for the last more than two weeks was recovered from a stream in Mirgund area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Reports reaching GNS said some locals spotted the body in the stream, running parallel to Srinagar-Baramulla highway at Chenibal area of Mirgund today afternoon and accordingly informed the concerned police station.
A police team immediately reached the spot and recovered the body from the spot, they said.
The deceased has been identified as Jan Mohd Bhat (34) son of Asadullah Bhat of Mamoosa Pattan. He was missing since March 22
It seems the man has been murdered as there are visible marks on his neck, head and face, SDPO Pattan, Mashkoor Ahmad Zargar told GNS.
We are awaiting FSL and medical report to come to ascertain the actual cause of death, he said.
“A case under section 302 has been registered in police station Pattan and further investigations have been taken,” the officer added.
Pertinently, the family members had sought the help of governor-led administration in tracing their missing kin.
According to the family, Jan Muhammad left, working as a driver with a telecommunication company, had left home on March 22 to attend a court hearing in a civil case but didn’t return. (GNS)
