Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the Union Budget 2024-25 will intensify economic growth, facilitate for-reaching reforms for ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Reacting on the Budget, Sinha said priorities for generating ample opportunities for all as envisaged in the budget will ensure faster progress and social equity.
“My heartfelt gratitude to PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji & Finance Minister N Sitharaman ji for a visionary Budget 2024 which will intensify economic growth, facilitate far-reaching reforms for ‘Viksit Bharat’ & increase the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ & the ‘Ease of Living'”, Lt Governor posted on X (formerly twitter).
He said this budget with focus on employment, skilling, MSMEs & the middle class, seeks to translate the vision of empowering all sections of the population.
The Budget provides unlimited opportunities to youth, women, farmers and entrepreneurs and lays down plans for prosperous rural India, Sinha said and added the budget will speed up development of a robust agriculture infrastructure and urban development.
Focus on productivity & resilience in agriculture and measures highlighted in the budget will greatly benefit J&K. Natural farming, mission for oilseeds, vegetable production, supply chains & national cooperation will ensure inclusive growth for farmers, villages and labourers, he said.
J&K has seized the opportunities of the 21st century & our youth are building a proud & prosperous Union Territory. Budget with focus on ‘Employment & Skilling’ & new schemes will give fresh impetus to youth empowerment & it’ll pave the way for higher participation of women in the workforce, the Lt Governor said.
“Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan for saturation coverage for tribal families in tribal-majority villages and aspirational districts will be a game-changer. Budget2024 ensures that the system at grassroots is strong & caring and people enjoy the fruits of social justice”, he added.
Meanwhile, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah, reacting to the budget, told media persons in Srinagar on Tuesday that he has not had the chance to watch the proceedings in Parliament.
“We will see if there is anything for Jammu and Kashmir”, Omar said and added “We have two or three important issues. Unemployment is the biggest issue in J-K. Perhaps, J-K has the highest unemployment rate in the country. We want to see if there is anything related to that”.
“We have water and electricity supply problems. We want these issues to be touched in the budget. If they are not, then our two MPs will raise these issues,” he said.
