Driver killed, 17 Vaishno Devi pilgrims injured as bus falls into ditch in Jammu

A driver was killed while 17 pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi suffered injuries when a bus ferrying them met with an accident and fell into a ditch near Manda here near city area.

Police said that a passenger bus of Uttrakhand registration carrying pilgrims on way from Katra towards Delhi, suffered accident and fell into 25 to 30 feet deep gorge near Manda Naka,
Panthirthi, Jammu.

“All 17 passengers with no or minor injures were shifted to the GMC Jammu for medical aid and
they are stable,” said police adding that efforts are also being made to retrieve the body of driver
also.

Jammu Police, Traffic, SDRF, Fire and emergency services are on job, they said.

The injured were identified as Anjali,58, Nitesh,35, Sudhir Maheshwari, 65, (all residents of Faridabad), Subash,55, Vrinda,24, residents of Muzaffar Nagar, Meerut, Shurti, 25, Dhuruv,18,
Prachi Sharma,24, (Delhi), Vinod Kumar,32 (HP), Kartikay Tripathi,28, (UP), Kalyani Sharma,25 (Delhi), Himanshu,20 (Delhi), Shreya,23 (Meerut), Sandhya,50 (Meerut), Akshay,29 (Delhi),
Aatish,24 (Delhi) and Akansha,27 (Delhi).
