Srinagar: A team of Election Commission of India (ECI) headed by Deputy Election Commissioner on Monday morning reached Srinagar where it is scheduled to hold a meeting with the representatives of all the mainstream political parties in the afternoon to be followed by a meeting with top functionaries of the state government particularly the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the deputy commissioners of all the districts and district SPs.
Top sources while disclosing this to Kashmir News Service (KNS) revealed that a team of the Election Commission of India headed by deputy election commissioner Sandeep Sharma Monday morning arrived Srinagar and immediately after arriving Srinagar, the commission sent invitation letters to all the mainstream political parties recognised with election commission of India for participation in a meeting convened to discuss the conduct of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.
Sources said that the team will take a brief from the representatives of all the mainstream political parties on the present security scenario and the possibility of conducting separate or simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state. The team will separately hold a meeting with top government officials of police and civil administration on the present security scenario in the aftermath of Pulwama attack and recent air strikes by IAF and retaliation by Pakistan.
