Jammu Police have arrested three drug peddlers including a woman with heroin and weapons in Ranbir Singh Pura area here in the city outskirts.
The police spokesman here today said that in a major action under the ongoing war against narcotics, Police achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting three drug peddlers with 170 grams of Heroin along with two sharp-edged weapons.
A police team of Police Station Ranbir Singh Pura led by PSI Shahid Majeed Runyal under the supervision of Station House Officer (SHO), R S Pura, Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar while on routine patrolling near Daljeet Chowk, intercepted a luxurious vehicle (SUV).
On noticing the police presence, the occupants attempted to flee, however, the alert team stopped the vehicle and detained all three individuals for questioning.
During preliminary enquiry, he said that the accused identified as Pritam Singh alias Sethi of Jerda, Tehsil Ramgarh, District Samba, Narayan Sharma alias Shunna and Jaspreet Kour alias Preeti, resident of Ward No.1, Vijaypur, District Samba.
He said that the personal search led to the recovery of 06.92 grams of heroin-like substance from Narayan Sharma, 07.12 grams from Pritam Singh and 03.08 grams from Jaspreet Kour.
Further search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of an additional 152 grams of Heroin along with two sharp-edged weapons.
A case under relevant investigation was registered and investigation started while all three accused persons were arrested.
Further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain, financial links and other individuals connected with the illicit trade, said police.
The spokesman added that the Jammu Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and organised crime and remains fully committed to protecting the youth from the drug menace and ensuring a safe, drug-free society through swift, proactive and sustained action.
