J&K constable sacked for role in murder

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday dismissed a constable from service for his involvement in a series of criminal cases, including a murder.

Constable Sham Lal, posted in Kishtwar, was “dismissed” by SSP Kishtwar after an inquiry found that he is habitual of absenteeism and has a criminal mind-set.

The police spokesman said, as per reports, constable Sham Lal, joined district Kishtwar on November 9, 2023, while he was under suspension on account of his prolonged absence and indulgence in criminal cases.

During his absence, the constable was found involved in a murder of Rajesh Dogra alias Mohan Cheer. The murder case was registered at Police Station Phase-II, Mohali (Punjab), and he was subsequently arrested by Punjab Police on March 7, 2024, and lodged in New District Jail Nabha, Punjab.

After the constable Sham Lal’s dismissal, SSP Kishtwar warned all police personnel that anyone found involved in anti-national activities, drug trafficking, or any heinous crimes would face strict disciplinary action.
