In the aftermath of the busting of a white-collar terror module and the recovery of explosives, J&K Police on Friday carried a major security crackdown across multiple districts, conducting coordinated inspections of chemical and fertilizer shops, car dealerships, and even doctors’ lockers in hospitals and health institutions.

The drive, officials said, aims to prevent misuse of materials, strengthen documentation protocols and plug potential security loopholes.

In Srinagar, police teams inspected chemical and fertilizer outlets as part of heightened security measures, verifying stock and sales records, identity checks for bulk purchasers, secure storage practices, and validity of licences. Dealers were asked to remain vigilant, ensure transparency in operations and immediately report any suspicious transactions.

Police also carried out extensive inspections of car dealerships in the city to prevent the potential misuse of vehicles for unlawful activities.

Documentation processes, sales records and compliance with safety protocols were thoroughly examined, police said.

Srinagar Police, along with medical officers from the Health Department, also inspected lockers used by doctors and staff at district and private hospitals, medical colleges and other health facilities. The checks were aimed at preventing unauthorized storage of illegal or hazardous materials and strengthening internal security within medical institutions.

Similar surprise inspections of lockers were conducted in Ganderbal, while in Anantnag, police undertook rigorous checking of vehicle dealerships as part of district-wide measures to enhance security and curb illegal activities.
