J&K Police foils illicit cannabis cultivation in Baramulla

 In a major crackdown on illegal drug-related activities, J&K Police acting on credible information, have uncovered a case of illicit cannabis cultivation in the Wagoora area of Baramulla district.

During the operation, it was discovered that an individual identified as Habibullah Ganie son of Abdul Salam Ganie, a resident of Wagoora, had been cultivating cannabis plants on the premises of his yard.

Acting promptly, a joint team comprising officials from the Excise, Revenue, and Agriculture Departments visited the location. The illicit cannabis crop was identified and destroyed on spot. The accused has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 76/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigation has been set into motion.

J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment towards a drug-free society and appeals to the public to cooperate in this noble mission. Citizens are urged to share information about individuals or landowners involved in illegal cultivation of cannabis or poppy, so that strict legal action can be taken against them.(JKNS)
