A policeman was killed in a suspected terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.
They said militants opened fire in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag, wounding a policeman.
“The injured cop was shifted to Government Medical College Anantnag for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead,” they said.
Security forces and police immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Police have not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.

This is the first attack on police this year in Kashmir.
