Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged voters of Jammu and Kashmir, especially young people and women, to participate in large numbers to make the festival of democracy a success.
Voting for the third and last phase is taking place on Tuesday in 40 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, spread over seven districts.
In a social media post on X, PM Modi said, “Today is the third and last round of voting in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. I request all voters to come forward and cast their votes to make the festival of democracy a success.”
He added, “I am confident that, apart from the young friends who are going to vote for the first time, women of power will also participate in the voting in large numbers.”
The seven districts where polling is being held are Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora in Kashmir Division, and Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, and Samba districts in Jammu Division.
More than 39 lakh voters will decide the fate of 415 candidates in this phase.
Prominent candidates in the fray are former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Basharat Bukhari, Sajad Gani Lone, and Nasir Aslam Wani in Kashmir Division, and Davinder Sing Rana, Choudhary Lal Singh, and Raman Bhalla in Jammu Division.
