A team of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a revenue official and his agent in a bribery case here from Pargwal area in the city outskirts.
As per the official communiqu?, the ACB received a complaint alleging Parvez Ahmed, Patwari, Halqa Gurha Manhasan, was demanding bribe of Rs 30,000 for entering Court’s directions in the revenue record with respect to land measuring 17 Marals falling under Khasra No. 654 situated at Gurha Manhasan, Tehsil Pargwal, Jammu.
The complainant requested for legal action against the Patwari concerned as he didn’t want to pay the bribe.
On receiving the complaint, a case was registered at ACB Police Station Jammu and during the course of investigation a trap was set.
Alongside Patwari, one Vijay Kumar alias Babbu (Ex-Panch) was also caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant.
Both the accused persons were arrested on the spot, it read. “Searches at the residences of both the accused were underway,” said the handout.
