JKPCC President Karra thanks Congress Leadership for backing Statehood demand, calls for urgent action in Parliament

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Wednesday expressed deep gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Karra stated, “We (Congress) demand prompt action in the upcoming session of Parliament to honour the urges and aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.”

He emphasized that restoration of Statehood is possible only through the Congress Party, citing the party’s significant strength of 150 MPs in both Houses of Parliament. “The Indian National Congress stands firm for the protection of the rights of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh,” he asserted.

Karra also revealed that he had been in constant communication with the Congress central leadership for the last three days regarding this matter, reflecting the seriousness with which the party is pursuing the issue.

Referring to the ongoing campaign ‘Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq’, launched by the Congress, Karra said the movement for Statehood would be further intensified in the coming days.

“We are fully committed to safeguarding the dignity, rights, and constitutional status of Jammu & Kashmir,” the JKPCC President affirmed.(KINS)
