LG urges people to strike final blow against drug abuse in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said the people must strike the final blow against drug abuse to dismantle the narco-terror network and save the younger generation from addiction.


Addressing a gathering during an anti-drug rally in Pulwama, the Lieutenant Governor said the fight against narcotics has turned into a people’s movement.


“ I urged my brothers and sisters to strike the final blow against drug abuse, so together we dismantle the narco-terror network and save our young generation from addiction,” the LG said in a post shared by the Office of LG on X.


He said Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a strong public awakening against drugs over the past month.


“This past month, Jammu Kashmir has witnessed public spirit awaken. In Baramulla I saw thousands raising their voices against drugs. Similarly, in Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Kathua, Srinagar and other districts I saw young people and parents resolutely committed to this fight,” the post added.


In a stepped up drive under “Nasha Mukth Abiyaan J&K (drug free J&K) launched last month, J&K Police has arrested over 800 people in over 700 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. More than 600 kg of narcotics have also been seized in this time period.
