A man was arrested by police on Monday for allegedly murdering his wife in Bishnah area in outskirts of the city.
Police spokesman said that one Mohammad Rashid, resident of village Chua Chak, Bishnah, murdered his wife, Shamshad Begum, with a sharp-edged weapon.
Upon getting information of incident, a police team acted swiftly and succeeded in apprehending accused immediately, who also tried to harm himself after committing gruesome murder, but was later overpowered by police and apprehended.
The body of deceased was sent to Bishnah sub-district hospital for post-mortem, he added.
