Massive search operations underway in Anantnag following Pahalgam attack

Date:

Even as the massive manhunt continued on Friday in the dense forests surrounding Pahalgam to track down the attackers, security forces simultaneously launched extensive search operations across multiple locations in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir witnessed one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent times when 25 tourists and locals were brutally gunned down near the popular resort town of Pahalgam in Anantnag district on Tuesday . Police have already detained over 1,500 individuals across Kashmir for questioning in connection with the incident.

According to police, the ongoing search operations in the district are part of a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy aimed at dismantling militant networks and their support systems across South Kashmir.

Police said joint teams comprising Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, paramilitary forces, and other security agencies have been deployed to conduct coordinated searches, primarily focusing on the residences and premises of individuals suspected to have affiliations with terror outfits.

“”The operations are being conducted with utmost professionalism, ensuring minimal inconvenience to the public. The ongoing efforts are a part of sustained measures to curb terrorist activities in the region and to maintain peace and security,” police said.

Authorities have urged the general public to cooperate with the security forces and share any information that may aid in maintaining law and order.
