NC demands unconditional apology from BJP leader for his remarks against 1931 Martyrs

National Conference (NC) on Thursday condemned the “uncouth remarks” made by Leader of the Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Kumar Sharma against 1931 martyrs and demanded an unconditional apology.

The NC stated that the supreme sacrifice of July 13, 1931 martyrs paved the way for democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.

The NC leaders in a joint statement issued here demanded an unconditional apology from Sunil Kumar Sharma of BJP and asked him to maintain decorum of the post he is holding.

The NC denounced the remarks and said, “the day has emblematic importance for the people of Jammu and Kashmir as it marked the launch of widespread people’s agitation for the restoration of their due human rights.”

The NC leaders demanded unconditional apology from Sunil Kumar Sharma and asked him to maintain decorum of the post he is holding.

“The brave men who laid their lives on July 13, 1931 belonged to a generation of wisdom, and vision” the statement said, adding “It was them who saw in darkness and despair a vision for the forthcoming generations, they envisioned a society free from bondage, discrimination and oppression,”.

The leaders said July 13 is the day of the assertion of Jammu & Kashmir’s identity, rights of its people.
