NDA leaders felicitate vice-presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan

The National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) vice presidential candidate, CP Radhakrishnan was felicitated at a parliamentary meeting of the alliance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA leaders.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, and ministers including Jitendra Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and L. Murugan, along with MPs Sambit Patra and Subhash Barala, were among those present.

Radhakrishnan is likely to file his nomination tomorrow at 11 am, with nearly 160 members, including 20 proposers and 20 supporters expected to join him. The Vice-Presidential election is scheduled for September 9.

At a meeting of NDA floor leaders at Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s residence yesterday, Radhakrishnan’s candidature was unanimously endorsed. Rajnath Singh will serve as his campaign manager, while Kiren Rijiju has been named his election agent.

“We feel very proud that a person like CP Radhakrishnan has been named as the NDA Vice-Presidential candidate. All NDA leaders thanked Prime Minister Modi, and we are hopeful that all parties will extend support,” Rijiju said.

A seasoned politician, Radhakrishnan has served as a Member of Parliament and as Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana. Prime Minister Modi praised his “dedication, humility, and intellect,” citing his grassroots work in Tamil Nadu.

As per constitutional provisions (Articles 64?68), the Vice-President is elected by members of both Houses of Parliament through proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote, with voting conducted by secret ballot.
