Over 3800 Amarnath pilgrims leave from Jammu base camp

More than 3800 Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims on Monday left for the cave shrine for Baltal route in South Kashmir Himalayas here from Bhagwati Nagar base camp.

The yatra suspended on July 19 as a precautionary measure in view of weather advisory across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly along the twin pilgrimage Pahalgam and Baltal routes leading to the holy cave shrine was resumed on Saturday.

As per officials, with a fresh batch of 3823 pilgrims departing from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas only for the Baltal base camp.

The batch left in a fleet of 140 vehicles under elaborate security arrangements.

No convoy was dispatched for the Pahalgam route, they said.

The annual pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

So far more than four lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine.

The ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 achieved a significant milestone as total pilgrim turnout surpassed the four-lakh mark.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said, “By Lord Shiva’s divine grace, the holy Shri Amarnath Yatra has crossed a remarkable milestone and more than 4 Lakh pilgrims have already completed the sacred journey.”

“Till now, 4.14 Lakh devotees have received darshan. I bow with reverence to Baba Amarnath for this blessing and extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this journey a truly divine experience for all,” he posted.
