Police on Tuesday arrested another accused booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in Anantnag after the Facial Recognition System (FRS) deployed along the Shri Amarnath Yatra route flagged his identity during routine checking.
The accused, identified as Danish Amin Reshi of Veersaran, was intercepted at Langanbal during security checks for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
Police said the Facial Recognition System generated an alert indicating his involvement in a previous criminal case. Subsequent verification revealed that he is an accused in FIR No. 24/2021 registered under the UAPA at Police Station Pahalgam.
He was taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
Police said the arrest was made as part of the multi-layered security arrangements for the annual pilgrimage, where advanced technological tools, including the Facial Recognition System, are being used to identify wanted persons and strengthen security along the yatra route.
