In a significant action against illegal liquor trade, Police in Awantipora have arrested a person and seized illicit liquor from his possession.
A Police party of PS Awantipora headed by SHO PS Awantipora during a routine patrolling at Gurduwara Awantipora, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Mochi son of Mohd Sultan Mochi resident of Pinglish Tral. During search, 18 bottles of illicit liquor and a cash amount of ₹18,200/- were recovered from his possession. It is pertinent to mention that the recovered cash is suspected to be the proceeds of liquor trade, which is under investigation.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 20/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.
