Police attach residential house of drug peddler in J&K,s Anantnag

Police on Friday attached a residential house of a notorious drug peddler under the Narco Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Police said it attached a single-storied residential house worth Rs 70 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler identified as Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh a resident of Gopalpora Kalan.

“The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the on-going anti-narcotics drive in the district”, Police said and added “the Property attachment is linked to FIR No. 86/2023, registered under Sections 8/20/29 of the NDPS Act, following investigations that established its use in drug trafficking activities”.

Rafiq is a habitual offender with a history of involvement in multiple narcotics cases, police added.
