Police Crack Down on Timber Smuggling In Anantnag, 2 Arrested with Illicit Kail Wood

 Police in Anantnag achieved a significant success in curbing forest-related offences by arresting two timber smugglers involved in the illegal cutting of forest trees in the Kherpeth forest area.

Police Station Larnoo received specific and credible information regarding the involvement of two individuals, namely Adil Ahmad Padder son of Gh Mohi din Padder resident of Larnoo and Rayees Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Salaam Sheikh resident of Kherpeth, in illegal forest activities. Acting swiftly on the information, a case FIR No. 42/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Larnoo and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, a police party conducted a raid at the identified location in the Kherpeth forest area. During the raid, the police recovered five (05) logs of Kail timber which had been illegally cut from the forest. Both accused persons were arrested on the spot, and a hand saw used for cutting trees was also seized. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Police remains committed to protecting the environment and taking strict action against those involved in illegal activities.(JKNS)
