As part of its ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with the Revenue and Excise Departments, carried out massive bhung (wild cannabis) destruction drives in Sopore and Awantipora police districts.
In Sopore, the drive was conducted along roadside state land stretching from Behrampora to Marazigund and Watergam, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha. The operation was supervised in the presence of the Tehsildar Watergam, Excise Department officials, and local civil society members, ensuring public involvement in the anti-drug initiative.
Similarly, in Awantipora, wild cannabis spread across approximately 5 kanals of land was destroyed in a joint operation by Police and Excise officials.
These actions form part of a larger effort to eliminate the illegal cultivation and distribution of narcotics and protect youth from drug abuse.
