Srinagar: The Police in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district today lodged an FIR against some persons allegedly spreading the news about the killing of policeman and a civilian on social media sites.
The police spokesman said that some unidentified persons attempted to disturb the peace in area after posting a fake news about the killing of cop and civilian Nisar Ahamd Dar resident of Zirpora in an encounter.
“Recently some unknown rumour mongers in order to attract youth towards militancy and to create disruption in normal life in the valley had uploaded a fake and baseless news on social media about killing of one constable during an encounter at Bijbehara and death of one person,” said the police spokesman.
He said the intention of these rumour mongers was to disrupt the peace and instigating youth to resort stone pelting.
“A Case FIR No 207/2015 under section 13-39 ULA Act, 153 RPC was registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation was taken up,” he said
“Efforts are on to nab the accused.”
