Police organise various events on the eve of ‘World Mental Health Day’ in Ganderbal

Drug Abuse Awareness Programme organised in Budgam

Under the Civic Action Programme, police organised awareness programme, rallies and Nukkar Natak on the eve of ‘World Mental Health Day’ in Ganderbal; Besides, organized a drug abuse awareness program at ITPS School, Khansahib in Budgam.

Police in Ganderbal in collaboration with District Hospital Ganderbal and Kashmir Speaks (NGO) organised an extensive awareness programme, rallies and Nukkad Natak on ‘World Mental Health Day’ to spread awareness about mental well-being and the menace of drug addiction. The event was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Ganderbal and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, health professionals, and police officers. The awareness rally was flagged off from Beehama and culminated at Duderhama, with participants holding banners and placards carrying messages on mental health and drug de-addiction. Moreover, a Nukkad Natak highlighting the devastating impact of drug abuse and the importance of emotional resilience was performed by S.R Threatre Group which received huge appreciation from the audience.

SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS chaired the event and interacted with the participants. He emphasized the crucial link between mental health and societal stability. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and to act as ambassadors of awareness in their communities.

Similarly, Police in Budgam organized a drug abuse awareness program at ITPS School, Khansahib. The program witnessed active participation from students, teachers, parents, and law enforcement officers.

Experts and officers from Police, along with community representatives, highlighted the harmful effects and long-term impact of drug addiction, early indicators of substance abuse, and the importance of timely intervention. They also emphasized preventive measures and the crucial role of community cooperation in eradicating drug abuse.

Participants appreciated the proactive efforts of Police and lauded its commitment to strengthening collaboration between the police, educational institutions, and the community.(JKNS)
