In an interview with PSM News, Minister Khaleel stated that the state visit of President Muizzu marks the first time a Maldivian president was showered with such warm welcome from India.

The Minister added that this was the result of President Muizzu’s efforts in the international platform, with a priority of strengthening bilateral relations with various countries. He further stated that the trip will result in multiple benefits for the Maldives.

Minister Khaleel said that the currency swap agreement signed between Maldives and India will facilitate trade activities to take place more conveniently. President Muizzu also revealed that the agreement aims to address the foreign exchange challenges faced by the Maldives, PSM News said.

Separately, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has stated that President Muizzu’s state visit to India marks the start of a new chapter of the bilateral trade.

In remarks during the India-Maldives Business Forum held in New Delhi, Minister Saeed highlighted the strong relations in the bilateral trade, and expressed confidence that the bilateral ties will continue to strengthen moving forward.

The Maldivian President on Tuesday visited Agra and saw the Taj Mahal along with First Lady Sajida Mohamed. He later left for Mumbai where several business events are lined up.
