Punjab: Inter-state gang of criminals busted, 4 arrested

 Punjab Police busted an inter-state gang of criminals and weapon suppliers and recovered seven pistols and 300 gms of Heroin from four persons who have been arrested in Kapurthala district, an officer said on Friday.

The arrested criminals were identified as Neeraj Kumar of Mujjafarpur (Bihar), Akashdeep alias Kalu of Village Paddra district Jalandhar,Tej Pal alias Lali of Village Paddra District Jalandhar and Rahul alias Gindi of Kartarpur.

The police officer said the arrested accused Neeraj was released on bail last November from Ludhiana jail and was living in a rented house in Fauji Colony Ludhiana where he came in the contact with one of his old jail matés. The duo started purchasing weapons on cheaper rates from Bihar at Rs 25,000 per pistol and sold those off at Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 in Punjab.

All arrested accused were already facing dozens of criminal cases registered against them in different districts of the state for crimes like bank dacoity.

All four arrested accused were produced before Judicial Magistrate this afternoon who sent them in police remand for further interrogation. The police said some more disclosures were expected from these arrested accused during interrogation.

A case under NDPS act and arms act has been registered against them.
