Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said the Rajouri encounter that left four Army personnel, including two officers attained martyrdom, belies claims of normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir.
She was talking to reporters in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district after a public rally.
“Soldiers were martyred in Rajouri. On one side BJP claims everyday that the situation in J&K is absolutely normal and militancy has been finished and other side jawans are getting martyred.
At the same time the life of people of Kashmir has been made miserable in the name of militancy,” the PDP President said. “I don’t understand if they say that the situation has improved, why are our jawans getting martyred?”
Mufti alleged that arrests were being made every day and there was constant monitoring and surveillance on people in J&K.
“Due to these things nobody can talk,” she said.
The PDP President alleged that the J&K administration has created an abysmal record of sorts by dismissing more employees than recruiting new ones.
“The employees are sacked by the government who themselves are lawyers, judges and announce the judgments on their own. ..J&K admin has created an abysmal record of sorts by dismissing more employees than recruiting new ones,” the former CM said while reacting to the sacking of employees by the government.
“The government doesn’t even think that those employees who are sacked have families to feed. Where will they go? I feel that snatching the livelihood of Kashmiris on false trivial grounds is not just collective punishment, but also signifies the manner in which all Kashmiris are mistrusted & humiliated on a daily basis,” she added.
