Srinagar Police attach property worth 1.2 Crore of alleged drug peddler in Hazratbal

In a major crackdown under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached a residential house and land worth nearly 1.2 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in the Gasoo Hazratbal area of Srinagar.

Officials said the attached property includes a double-storeyed residential house along with a piece of land owned by Maqsood Hussain Khan, son of Abdul Majeed Khan, a resident of Banday Lane Hazratbal and presently residing at Gasoo Hazratbal.

The action was carried out by Police Station Nigeen under Section 68(F)(1) of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 42/2023 registered under Sections 8/20, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nigeen, and FIR No. 20/2025 registered under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Ganderbal.

During the course of investigation, the property was found to have been illegally acquired through proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities, officials said.

Police said the attachment order prohibits the owner from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property.

Reiterating its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society, Srinagar Police said strict action will continue against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking.

Police also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information related to drug peddling to help make society drug-free.(KINS)
