National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday urged the people to vote wisely so that a better tomorrow is possible for the future generations.

Omar who is contesting from Baramulla parliamentary constituency warned the people that the vote on May 20 is not for any candidate or any party but for the entire nation and future generations.

“If we want to escape from this slavery, everyone has to make a personal effort, use their vote wisely so that we can create a better tomorrow for future generations”, Omar expressed these things while addressing a public rally in Ramhal Handwara in Kupwara district on Tuesday.

He said “that there are two candidates against me who are proxy candidates of BJP. There is a PDP candidate who not only helped the BJP by being absent from the Rajya Sabha during the election of the Deputy Chairman but also helped the BJP behind the scenes by being absent on the day of the triple talaq issue”. He alleged that even today these people are getting privileges because of their support.

He said that the people should get the information about who got the contract for the smart meters that are being installed in the houses these days, and no one gets such big contracts.

Attacking heavily to the Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Lone, Omar said that the other candidate is the one who calls me a tourist, but when we look at the facts, he is more of a tourist than me for this constituency. Nothing done, I want to ask this person, “What have you done to improve here?” Which new government office or institution was established here? What construction and development took place? What has been done to satisfy the population here? You call yourself the younger brother of the Prime Minister, why did your relationship not benefit the people here? Did you use this relationship to stop the roundup of youths here? Did you use the influence of your relationship to stop the process of taking the youth here to foreign prisons? Yes, you used that relationship at one point, you made an old colleague of yours a prisoner of Tihar Jail under revenge and this is not a hidden thing”.

He said that the BJP which has given nothing but destruction to Jammu and Kashmir, you are representing it here, then you say that I am being falsely accused? You openly said that RSS has every right to take refuge in Kashmir.

He said that “it is the same RSS which never recognized the Muslims of the country, it is the same RSS which says that if Muslims want to live here, they have to follow our instructions, it is the same RSS which Muslims is adamant to give second class citizenship, why did you get Shama Prasad Mukherjee award in Goa?.

Omar said ‘I also worked with Atal Bihari Vajpayee for two years, I did not get any award, where did you get it, somewhere or other your strings are very tightly connected. In 2018, when the National Conference announced its support to PDP to form the government in view of the political situation and there was an attempt to make Altaf Bukhari the Chief Minister, at that time how did you get a written letter of support from the BJP to become the Chief Minister?

BJP people will not make someone like that as the chief minister, the limit is that even today BJP people are helping you and you are manipulating to give support from where, despite this, you say that I am being falsely accused of having links with the BJP, Omar added.
