Yami Gautam expresses gratitude after ‘HAQ’ garners widespread acclaim

Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s ‘HAQ’ has recently made its debut on Netflix following a successful theatrical run in India.


The film has been met with widespread praise, particularly for Yami Gautam’s portrayal of Shah Bano Begum.


In response to the acclaim, Yami expressed her gratitude to audiences on X, writing, “Extremely grateful for such a heartfelt response to HAQ in abundance. The love is truly gratifying for me, both as an artist & a woman. Jai Hind, HAQ”


Viewers have lauded Yami for bringing a quiet strength and authenticity to her role, further cementing her reputation as a versatile performer. Celebrities have also praised her performance.


Kiara Advani shared the film’s poster on Instagram, calling Yami’s work “a beautiful performance,” while Sanjay Kapoor described ‘HAQ’ as an “excellent film.”


‘HAQ’ is based on the landmark 1985 Supreme Court case Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum, which addressed women’s rights and maintenance laws in India.


Directed by Suparn S. Varma, the film also stars Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, and Aseem Hattangady.


Produced under Junglee Pictures, ‘HAQ’ is backed by Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta, and Harman Baweja. The movie was originally released in theaters on November 7, 2025.
