11 killed in head-on collision in Nigeria

Date:

Eleven people were killed Saturday when the two cars they were riding in collided head-on in northern Nigeria, police said.

All occupants in the two vehicles died on the spot in the collision in Kwanar Gujungu, a town in the Taura local government area of Jigawa State, state police spokesperson Lawan Shiisu said Sunday.

He blamed the collision on the speeding of the drivers of the two cars.

Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad road conditions, and reckless driving.
